My first time with Cricut machine!!
I was first introduced to Cricut by Lia Griffith and was completely blown away by how much you could do with it, but by then Cricut was not officially sold in Singapore and the only way to get a Cricut is via parallel import (i.e. order and ship from the US), I wasn’t quite sure about the voltage and warranty so I just parked the idea.
Spotlight probably overheard my birthday wishes lol so they finally started selling Explore Air 2 it at the beginning of the year! Horray!! It comes with a Singapore plug and voltage!! But with a normal price of SGD$539.99 (vs. USD$199.99) I was very torn whether I should get it…then one day when I was randomly browsing Spotlight website I saw my beloved machine is on flash sale at only $389.99!! I ordered it within the next 5 minutes and wow, it took me less than 48 hours to deliver!!
My first Cricut project goes to these personalized wedding mugs for my hubby’s good friend.
Hubby wanted to opt for cooler fonts so I was looking for something that looks like typewriter fonts to give the mugs a bit rustic look. The fonts I used are Trattatello (for the couple’s name) and Andale Mono (for the date). Probably the only issue with Andale Mono is that it’s a bit thin so really need extra care when weeding and transferring to the mug.
Lia has this video on how to transfer vinyl to a mug and it’s absolutely great for beginners, I literally followed it step by step to finish the Mug!
So, here’s everything I used for this DIY wedding gift:
- White Mug
- Cricut Vinyl – Cocoa
- Cricut Transfer Sheet
- Cricut Air Explorer 2
- Weeding tool (or Pen Knife if you don’t have one)
